“A journey of a thousand miles must begin with a single step”.

Lao Tzu – Chinese pholoserpher

There are many reasons why over sixty two million worldwide choose to visit China every year. Most would say it was the opportunity to embrace the culture of a five thousand year old civilisation and explore some of the worlds greatest archaeological sites that attracted them to visit this vast and diverse country. Others would claim Tibets Mount Everest or Hong Kong’s financial and shopping region was their draw.

If it’s not ascending the worlds highest mountain peak that attracts you, then it’s surely walking the Great Wall, visiting the Forbidden City’s Chinese Imperial Palace and inspecting the Qin Tomb Terracotta Warriors that satisfies your wish list.

Touring China’s Golden Triangle of Beijing, Xi’an and Shanghai would cover all of these attractions and much, much more. Add a Yangtze River cruise or a close encounter with a Panda to your vacation and it will surely be a trip of a life time.

Beijing hosts the Forbidden City which was home to the Imperial family for 500 hundred years and until 1912 excluded non royals from entering. The Imperial Palace has 9,999 rooms and is now a museum and a listed UNESCO World Heritage site.

The Great Wall, one of the Seven wonders of the World was 2,000 years in the making and spans over 13,000 miles. Start your tour from Beijing.

The creation of the Qin Tomb Terracotta Warriors at Xi’an began in 246 bc, to guard China’s first Emperor, Ming, into his after life. The 40 year construction was hidden from the world until unearthed in 1974 and is renowned as one of the worlds greatest archaeological excavations.
